“Canadian Dinner”

Day 3 is complete. It started off with a great talk about what makes a good teacher. So many of the stories told were about our favorite teachers and their traits. It was awesome to hear about so many teachers out there making an impact on people.

At the end of our chat we had a huge list of items which makes a good teacher. They must know their technical information about poses and creating a class. Then they must be real, authentic, and relatable. I am surprised about where I pulled my additions to the conversation from. As one of the major points I made I have seen in one of the newest teacher I have attended a class from. And that class was amazing. I want to do it again.

After our talk we did a class and a bit of thai massage to help learn anatomy. More specifically the hamstrings. In the afternoon. We talked about triangle pose and adjustments. Adjustments are a bit of a scary thing for me, just to learn how to do them right. Because they can make such a huge difference in a pose.

This evening the whole group had a “Canadian Dinner” or otherwise know as a potluck dinner. Donna from Switzerland told me that, that is what potluck dinners are called over there. Interesting to hear that being Canadian. I wonder why they call it this. The dinner was great. It was a chance to hear some more people talk and to talk about other things than yoga. We all have lives outside of yoga and we were able to share them a bit tonight. I know tomorrow I will feel even more comfortable in class because tonight happened.

It is now late and tomorrow the teaching begins.

  1. Oh Josh it sounds so perfectly to be where you need it to be. Enjoy all the emotions, especially the ones of fear. They will teach you more than you imagined. Can’t wait to keep reading about your journey.
