I have been in this tiny town for a mere five and a half hours and I am blown away. This place is unbelievable. It is basically one main street, Peninsula Road. It has cross streets that end when the hit the water in both directions. Everyone is friendly. I was looking at a map with a fellow student in the same course today, Carol, and the owner of the shop we were outside came to help us find what we needed. She then informed us that hitch hiking is the way to get up to Tofino. Or even asking a resident for a lift, if they are free they are likely to help out. We shall see how that adventure goes in 11 days when I need to head that way.
As for local transportation brought my long board to use, unfortunately I pretty my just carried it around today. Peninsula Road is hilly, far beyond my comfort level on the board I have. Maybe by the end of my stay I will be bombing down the hills. But its important to remember why I’m here and not get injured trying to board down steep windy roads.
Ucluelet, within hours you have my heart. It is open for yoga knowledge and the environment.
I’m out to go explore again before the sun goes down.
Peace & Love,
Joshua
